I made a bunch of bc roses last night and when I look at the color now, I am not completely pleased. Is it possible to spray them slightly with a lighter color to achieve kind of a two tone effect. I know I can't change the color completely but I would like to lighten them up slightly.

I've never done it, but I know it can be done... I've heard you can use color gel with a little bit of vodka and use a regular paint brush. You have to wait to have 100% crusted buttercream though. And what I've experienced regarding color.. YES, when you let anything with color sit for a while, it always gets darker, specially pinks and reds. Hope this helps, good luck! OH you know what else you can do, mist it with a little bit of water in a spray and add some clear cake sparkles??? Maybe this will lighten the BC color... again, good luck!

You can also mix luster dust or edible glitter with vodka and lightly brush on the edges of the roses. Again, you must make sure they are completely dry. You don't have to use a whole lot of vodka. The vodka evaporates and the glitter & etc. stays on the roses.

When you say "spray" do you mean with an airbrush? Because that will definitely work. I use white all the time to lighten up BC that darkened on me.

I don't have an airbrush, I was just thinking the can of color spray, I used it on a cake for my son's birthday, it covered pretty thoughly with a few coats. again, I don't want to completely cover the roses, just lighten them. they are pink now, I think they look like taffy, yuck.

THE WILTON SPRAY ON COLOR SHOULD WORK. I WOULD HOLD FAR AWAY TO GET A LIGHT COATING THEN DO MORE IF YOU AREN'T HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS.

Yes, with an airbrush or just a regular spray/mist to add a tiny bit of water for the sparkes to adhere, or if using both, just use the airbursh and while it is still wet, add the sparkles. OR use the airbrush alone to add a touch of a ligher color. If don't own an airbrush, go to your local craft store and buy some of Wilton's color mists, they work great!
