I stupidly left my gumpaste roses out in the kitchen and they faded from a nice lavender to a blue grey. Is there any way to recolor those to a nice lavender so I don't have to get rid of them? The only thing I can think of is painting them and I am afraid that they wouldn't color evenly. ANy advise would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

just use petal dust or pastel chalk. That's the only thing I use to color my gumpaste flowers (well, I sometimes slightly tint the paste itself, but more often than not I don't). I have some photos of the flowers in my photos, if it helps.

I think the dust makes them look more realistic.

A technique I read but never tried is to mix color and alcohol (vodka) together in a glass just large enough for your flowers to fit. You then briefly submerge the flower in the colored vodka and then air dry.

In the example that I saw, the person was coloring white roses a dark pink or red. I was always skeptical about the technique so I never tried it. I wouldn't hurt to test it on just one.

If you can get use everclear and dip like was suggested with the vodka, It has a very high alochol content and will evaporate before your gumpaste melts. I see your in Mass, i know its not sold in NY but i don't know about Mass, i do know its sold in NH
