I did a Pirate cake (in my pictures) for a customer and she says it was the best cake she had ever tasted. YAY! But than she said that with her next cake she only wants it one layer because my 4 inch tall cake was too tall for her.

So, do I charge her less for a 2 inch tall cake than a 4 inch tall cake?

I would say yes, because it will serve fewer people.

While I agree with the reasoning, I"m not happy with the result. :-/

I mean, if they want a 2 inch tall cake, go to Walmart, right?

Or am I being a cake snob and unreasonable. LOL

Rachel -

My immediate family (6 of us) wants me to make cakes for all of our occasions. Unless the cakes are for the GKs school classes, I make a single 6" layer (torted and filled), and have leftovers. It drives me crazy - I love cake - who are these people and what have they done with my family??!!

omg, joanmary, one night my 14 year old and I were craving a cake, so we mixed up a single 10" chocolate ..... and wiped it out that night!

So to answer the question:

How many people can you feed with a 10" single layer round?

Two. Just two. icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_lol.gif

I agree indydebi....I make a quarter sheet cake and my grandson and I eat the whole thing. Not all in the same day...we eat it for 3 or 4 days. It is great having left over cake around. Kind of like turkey after Thanksgiving. Do most people just get a Cornish hen?

Last year, my son was in the Marines and my married daughter went to her in-laws, so it was just three of us at Thanksgiving. We had a 14 lb turkey just for 3 people! When the whole gang is home (7 of us), we always get a 28-30 pounder. we LUV leftover turkey but we are usually out by Saturday.

(Wonder if that has anything to do with why I have to shop in the fat-lady stores?) icon_confused.gif
