I have to do a babyshower cake in 1 week i am goign to do the BABY blocks. but i am babking the cake in a large square pan and then cutting it into 4 equal parts
it also has to be filled. Should i fill it before i cut it into the 4 parts or should I cut it into the parts first and then fill each block individually.
I have no clue which way is best.
thanks diamondsmom......
I don't know either, just helping you along with a BUMP.
I would say cut it into four and then fill. That is how I did mine. Then I froze and then crumb coated.
thanks a lot. i'll be baking and decorating the same day so i don't think i need to freeze it. but for the crumb coat do you just use a very thin layer of crusting buttercream?
Yes, I freese it so it doesn't fall apart when I frost it. It is VERY difficult to frost cut cake. Yes, for the crumb coat I use a thin layer of crusting buttercream. Good luck, post pictures when you're done!
