i was wondering if its okay to bake different pan sizes at once? i can fit 2 8 inch pans and 2 six inch pans in my oven at the same time. for a wedding cake im doing, can i bake all four of those cakes together? when i take the 6 inch cakes out, will it make my 8 inch cakes sink? i bake from scratch, so i know those cakes are a little more finicky than from a mix. anyone have any experience with this?

TIA

Not from scratch, but I do the same thing. I just make sure the smaller ones are at the front of the oven so I can take them out earlier if I need to.

I have been able to bake different sizes at once, even with scratch cakes, no problems (at least not problems that could be attributed to baking them together or opening the door!) LOL.

I usually put the smaller ones toward the door for easier removal and testing since they'll be done first. And I've noticed that one side of my oven bakes slightly slower than the other, so if they fit better, I'll put the smaller pans on that side.

Good luck!

thanks for the quick replies, it makes me feel much better about attempting it! i hope to actually have some commercial kitchen space rented by the time i need to do it, but if i don't this is plan B. icon_wink.gif

i have done this in my oven at my apartment. since it's not very big and spacious i just put the big ones on the bottom and smaller ones on top rack. i have never had a problem either.

I always bake with a full oven. I have been told a full oven bakes better then a empty, not to sure if it's true or not. icon_confused.gif I do it for the time's sake. I always leave enough room between the pans to let air flow. It doesn't have to be much, but allow a little space between everything and it should be fine. Good Luck!!

As long as you leave room for air to circulate around the pans, you should be good. I make sure there's about 2" space between my pans.
