Good Morning,
What do you use to Paint your cakes with? I use the Americolor gel colors and a brush...but it always comes out really stricky...how to you prevent that? Is there something else that I should be using?

Maybe just thin your gel a little with vodka? Are you painting buttercream or fondant?

I like to make my "paint" opaque rather than the translucent colors youwould get with a gel. I use Color gel, a little bit of corn syrup and a little bit of confectioners sugar (just enough sugar to make it more opaque). To me that helps with the 'streakyness' that occurs when base color comes through. also, if you apply several super thin coats of color and let them dry well between coats, that my help as well.

Use some vodka to thin gel colors and they will have better consistency and dry faster.
