I'm mixing icing at midnight (the story of my LIFE) and I just now realized I'm out of Meringue Powder for it!!

Can I go without? Is there a substitute???

You'll be fine without it.

Wilton's original icing recipe didn't even have MP in it until recent years. It's fine w/out it & a lot of people prefer not to use it anyway.

It is the ration of fat (ie butter) to powdered sugar that makes the bc crust. If you find that it isn't crusting add a little more powdered sugar. Hope that helps. You will be fine icon_biggrin.gif

Is there a 24 hour walmart around you. They sell it. If you still feel you need it. icon_smile.gif

There isn't one within an hour's drive icon_sad.gif

It's working great without the meringue....maybe I'll never use it again!
