I just had someone contact me about a 25th wedding anniversary cake. I wanted to know if there was a new way of getting that silvery, metallic color for the icing? I told her the only thing that I have heard of at this point is to brush on luster dust and that I would check with my instructor . So, again, back to the question at hand - she said something about mixing the luster dust in the icing itself, if that would work? Well, does anyone know the answer to this question?

Also, I can't remember where I read it, but I also need some information on the Monograms or shiny "25" cake toppers? I think I read where someone makes their own with little crystals and then another person mentioned a website that has these.

I am sorry I cant help, but I do hope someone will. I heard that added luster dust doesnt do much.... but to add it a glaze would make it a shiny pic...but i dont know for sure.. I hope pushing this to the top someone will notice and help you.

I was just looking at Wilton's website last week about trying to get a color. On their color chart, it says they do NOT recommend using or making metallic silver icing. I would just go with the luster dust or use white for the decorating and add silver touches in non-edibles.

Also--beware of those silver ball things--my dad broke a tooth on one last year from a cake! YIKES!
