What Do You Use To Cut Your Dowels?

I'm very anti-power tool so I usually have DH cut my dowels for me. Timing can get tricky because he's a police officer and often isn't home when I'm working on cakes. I think I saw someone mention a Craftsman tool that worked well. Anyone have suggestions?

I have pruning shears only used to cut wooden dowels.

I use bipass shears. They are like pruning shears, except they will cut cleanly through the dowels without leaving any jagged edges. You can get them at Home Depot or a hardware store of some sorts. icon_smile.gif

I use a NEW pair of large dog nail trimmers. They cut right through with no problem!

I'm married to a woodworker so I just steal his Japanese saw (but most people don't have one of those lying around!) icon_wink.gif

Fiskars pruning shears dedicated to cakes. It cuts clean straight cuts every time and not a lot of muscle needed! Best $10 ever spent for a cake tool!
