Is there a secret society for red hat wearers? I've never heard of a red hat party - granted I'm from Canada ...

A friend and I recently did a "Red Hat" cake for a 50th Birthday. The couple wanted to keep it simple so we did 2 smallish red hats from FBCT and then decorated them with flowers. We also added some purple and red flowers to accent the cake. The birthday 'girl' was really happy with it! There is a picture of the cake in my photo album here on Cake central if you want to take a look.

For those who asked the Red Hat society is a social club for women of a 'certain age;. I believe the club was started here in the US, mostly in the Southern states and has really taken off lately. I think it's to let eveyone know that your only as old as you let yourself feel and I believe the whole Red Hat thing was to be bold because there is this way of thinking that after women reach a certain age they shouldn't 'stand out'. Here is a link to their web site. I think it's a pretty cool idea!

I made a red hat cake, it is in my album. The cake idea was cute but I had a lot of trouble that day with a new icing and the cake wasn't cooperating either.

So when I turn 50 if I want to come out and play I have to put on a red hat first? LOL

I dont plan on aging gracefully anyway (emotionally wise I mean lol) so where do I sign up? LMAO
