Ok here is the deal ,
I hate sifting icon_confused.gif

I never do it because i can not find a sifter that is worth my time. I have had carpal tunnel surgery and frankly i am not sittig there and killing my arm. Is there a good sifter that works that does not require 3 hours of sifting time. i mean i figured the kitchenaid is going 3000 miles per hour whats the difference?

I use the fine-mesh screen/strainer. I add 1-2 cups of sugar and just knock the side of the strainer against my palm and let it fall into the bowl. There is a 3 cup capacity battery operated sifter available that I'm thinking of buying; I think it's around $15. The 2 things I hate to do: sift and knead!

Oops....forgot to add: I've read here that many people don't sift, but I'm afraid it will clog my tips or that large clumps will be in the frosting, even with all the mixing. It's the way I was taught since 7th grade, so it's pretty much ingrained in me.

I sifted on and off and have found there is a difference with powered sugar.... for me it does make the icing easier to use.

Carpal Tunnel & Arthritis make it difficult for me too, so I get my 13yr old and 7yr old to do it for me. icon_redface.gif But looking into the battery operated one is shortly becoming a must. School starts soon and I'll lose my sifters to studies. Of course I do have my 14mo old grandbaby with me all day, HMMM... icon_lol.gif

My wilton instructor had this machine one and it worked really good, it
sifted 1pound of 10x in a few seconds.

Hey morningglories,

Sounds like you have a future sifter. icon_lol.gif
I'd start training camp immediately. icon_lol.gif ~ icon_lol.gif ~ icon_lol.gif
