Woodgraining Tool Used On My Garden Cake!! :)

I wanted to show you a picture of the tool I used to get the woodgrain effect on my cake. I colored the fondant tan, cut strips, laid on cake and then later, I brushed on some brown color/vodka and then used this tool. I waited a little so the fondant could adhere well to the frosting...since I was going to wet it! It's sort of a trial & error thing. I redid some boards over & over. Thankfully fondant is forgiving! I would just go over it again with color and redo it. The directions for the tool are on the package..but you'll just have to find what works for you. You should be able to find it in the tole painting section of your craft store, I believe! It is so fun!!
I did wonder how you made the knot hole and wood grain effect after your first attempt. You had great results in the end. Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering if that is what you used. I was concerned it might tear the fondant though. You did a wonderful job! Did your g-grandma love it?
A while back, there was an episode of Sugar Rush, on Food Network, where a chef (can't remember his name but he was a spiky-haired blond guy, thin, with outrageous behavior) made chocolate tools and woodgrain chocolate boards for a groom's cake...this is the tool he used, or something very very similar, to make the boards.
Thankies for showing us how to do that, i just PM'ed you recently on how to do it, never t hought of a woodgrain tool!
Thankies, now im gonna go try it on the warwick bass
