I think edible image would be the easiest and most uniform, but the firts thing I thought of was to cover in fondant and write names with a fine tip edible marker.
(does anyone ever disagree with Doug? immediate family and spouses don't count they do that just for fun)
LOL!!!
well -- yes...there are several on here who do (sometimes often -- and even repeat just what i said as if it didn't exist)
and as for family, etc. -- like they even listen?! "hello, am I talking to the wind here?!?!?"
thanks for the laugh!!! ![]()

great idea and potentially cheaper...
(unless you failed handwriting multiple times
-- 7th grade teacher to my parents -- buy this kid a typewriter!)
edible image unless you want to pipe all the names then id writs them at an angle on the top of cake and on the sides
Actually i my first thought was to do a few FBCT's to mix up the fonts a bit...
i relly don't like doing edible imagies... i feel like i am cheating, to easy!!!!
(big sigh!)
Cheating? You think you're cheating because it's TOO EASY??? What?...... you bake your cakes in a cast iron skillet over a firepit in the backyard? Or you "cheat" and do it the easy way by using a modern electric oven inside your kitchen?
You cut down your own tree and carve your own wooden spoons to mix your batter? Or you "cheat" and do it the "easy" way by using a modern electric mixer?
The guy who built your house ..... was he "cheating" because he used a power nailer instead of just a regular hammer? How do you get to the store? Do you saddle up your horse (the saddle you made by hand, of course!) and ride over to Walmart? Or do you "cheat" and do it "the easy way" and drive your modern car?
WHY do some think it's "cheating" to use tools designed to make the job easier? If it was "too easy" then everyone would do it themselves. But they're not ..... they're paying YOU to do it because they don't know how.
To me ...... making a wedding cake is "easy". Are my clients "cheating" by paying me to do it instead of doing it themselves??? ![]()
Indydebi, you crack me up! ![]()
Although....I do feel the same way as HammIamm in certain ways. I feel that if there is any other way for me to create an item without using the edible image I will do that. To this date I have not had to do an edible image. However, "to this date" is about a year and a half...lol. So, maybe my mind will change down the road... The only way I think I would do an edible image is if someone wanted a picture of someone on the cake and there was no way for me to sketch it.
Still I always love the way you just lay it out there Indydebi...you have a good point.
Have to agree with Doug piping them would be a bit too time consuming. (does anyone ever disagree with Doug? immediate family and spouses don't count they do that just for fun)
I have to laugh here, too! I was just wondering this about 15 minutes ago on another topic (can't remember which one.)
But now I'm going to go ahead and disagree. Well, I was until I found out this was for a daycare (assuming it's kids names on there)
Cuz earlier this evening I was reading a post about a bride wanting "I love you" in different languages all over her cake, and somebody included a link to a cake that almost made me cry (yes I'm PMSing.) On the 3-tiered cake, the GROOM (!) had asked the caker to pipe the names of all 250 (?) wedding guests to show them how important they were (sniff) and the cake was just gorgeous.
So I was thinking it would be really cool to do that here, but with only a half sheet, and it's for a daycare, I guess I'll go ahead and agree with Doug.
