I was about to place my first order for FondX. Up until now I have always made MMF.

I had the "virgin white" in my cart thinking I would just knead in color, but I thought I should check in here, first, to be safe.

Do you color FondX (or Satin Ice, for that matter), or is it best to purchase pre-colored fondant?

Thanks for your thoughts on this,
Stacie

I've always colored white fondant and have not had any problems. I do suggest you take a small ball first and color a shade darker than you want and then knead into the rest.

I buy fondant white and color it as necessary, except when I need red and black which I buy pre-colored from Satin Ice.

i buy fondx and have had no problems coloring it. the only colored fondant i buy is red and black just because its easier for me. i have tried both satin ice colored fondant and the chocolate/white chocolate colored fondant that cal java sells i dont really care for the fondant made out of chocolate its not as soft and pliable as the satin ice

Fondx is great, one thing is because fondx is soft after you knead it, it becomes softer the more you work with it. So, when you color it try do it the day before and let it rest. It will be so soft you will be posting a message about. Cal Java owner says it needs to rest to get form after you been handling it espically after you add color. I had to let the fondx sit for a few hours it was sooooooo soft it kept breaking. It is awesome to work with just keep a mental note about it getting softer the more you work color into it and let it rest.
