I would like to make a filling like the WBH Cookies and Cream but do not want to refrigerate the cake. Is there a buttercream that would come near the taste/texture of a whipped-cream based filling and doesn't need refrigeration?

I was thinking of trying the Dream Whip icing recipe on this site. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

i would make the WBH house buttercream and add oreos or oreo pudding mix. to me the WBH house BC tastes very much like a whipped cream icing.

I don't know if you have a cash n' carry or a smart and final near you but either rich's bettercreme or pastry pride make a great filling. I just made a choc. mousse filling. Using pastry pride and choc. pudding mix. and it is so light and yummy and because pastry pride/rich's bettercreme is a non-diary product it doesn't have to be refridgerated.

I use the WBH buttercream and add the chopped oreos. It's a favorite.

Sometimes, I use Dreamy Cream(CC recipe) for fillings. It's fluffier and not as sweet as BC. I've added cherries and nuts and it was great. Cookies would probably work too.

Sorry to hijack your post but does anyone have the recipe for the WBH bc recipe? Or do you know where I can get it? Thanks!

Unfortunately, we don't have access to Pastry Pride where I am. I tried the WBH buttercream and the texture was just what I was looking for! By itself it wasn't quite sweet enough for my taste, but with the crumbled cookies added in, it was great. I also tried the Whipped Cream Buttercream recipe from this site and it was good but didn't come out quite as fluffy. A mix of the two was really good, too.

Here is a link to the WBH buttercream recipe: http://cakescanada.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=66&highlight=whimsical

As an aside, this past winter I tried to make the Whipped Cream Buttercream (which has no cream in it) four or five times and no matter what I tried I could never get the meringue powder mixture to stiffen. This time, though, it practically bloomed before my eyes! I think it must have been too humid when I tried before.
