I know this is stupid, but I'm starting to freak out ![]()

about my daughter starting kindergarten and taking the bus! I will be putting her on the bus in the morning. I'm mostly OK with this part. But then she has to get on the bus, and take it to Kiddie Academy, where she will spend the rest of the day. I'm totally freaking just thinking about it. I mean, she has been in preschool, but they don't go anywhere.
I'm just so worried she will get lost or taken by someone. I know these fears are mostly irrational, but I still have them! I don't want to say anything to DD because she will get scared if she knows I'm freaking.
Should I get her shoe tags with her name and out phone numbers? Should I get her a firefly phone? I just don't know what to do. ![]()
Someone please say something to try to make me feel better! I really need some support.
Ellen
Ellen Sweetie! Take a deep breath. She will be fine! If you are really worried, then you could get her a firefly phone if for nothing else than to help you feel better. I know she will be just fine. The first day of school is more scary for us than it is for them! We'll be praying for angels to be around her. You go ahead and cry (I know I will be next week), but she will be fine.
I feel your pain, my son goes to a school with 100 kids or more in each grade and the buses carry K-12. When he started kindergarten I wanted to drive him to school for at least the first week but he insisted that he ride home the first day.
I can't understand the parents around here who don't even take their kindergarteners to school the first day of classes, I'd be way too scared.
Last year he got mad when I took him to school for the first day of first grade but I hate the start of the school year. ![]()
My big 5 yo.....thinks he's big anyway, lol..........has insisted for MONTHS that he will be taking the bus to kindergarten. I just put my foot down...not now, maybe later when you're older.
I hate buses! And, with where we live, he'll be on the bus for almost an hour! Sheesh!!!
The first day is so hard on us; you think it will be hard on them, but it isn't-and that makes it harder on us, too.
Ellen, you can reassure yourself simply by going to any back to school nites the school may have, and asking what the process is for children who will be bused to after-school sites. At our school we have teachers and some parent volunteers who see to it that students are safely on the right bus. You can also make sure that you DD's teacher knows all the info as well by making several lamenated cards with the info and giving one to her. The others are for back up through the year or for anyone else who may need one at schools beginning. Kindergarten is so much fun. Keep doing your best at masking your concerns and she will enjoy every minute of this new beginning.
After reading this I realized that incase you have already missed any back to school nites, to let you know you can go to the office and get info and assistance. There is always a way to communicate your needs and an avenue for having questions answered there.

Take deep breaths!!! I know it's hard, and everyone is right on with what they said, so I won't repeat! But I just want to let you know I understand your feelings!! My oldest starts high school this september. I feel like it's a jungle out there!!!!! ARRRGGHH, our mother hearts......
Pootchi, read your post and my heart skipped a beat. You reminded me that I'll be in your shoes next year! It's been 3yrs since my last kiddo graduated and with the excitment of my 13yr old being in 8th grade I plum forgot about High School! Oh well I'm sure we'll figure out a way to help them and ourselfs survive.
