2 Layers - Help Me With This Duh Question Please!!!

torting is when you slice one layer of cake into two thinner layers and add a filling in the middle. when you double layer and torte you end up with 4 one inch layers of cake and 3 layers of filling. i only make this type of cake, so i charge accordingly. i think it looks and tastes better to do cakes this way, so i don't ever just make 1 layer. does that answer your question?
i believe one cake mix will make 2 8x2's, so it would be one. but if you were making 2 10x2's you would need two. when you double layers you get more servings out of a cake, so if you charge per serving, yes it would cost more. on a double layer serving sizes for me are 1.5x2x4 for party and on a single layer 2x2x2 for party. i hope this is helping and not making it more confusing for you! ![]()
i make my 8 ,9,10in cakes 3 layers. i use two boxes and divide into three pans for the 8in and 9in and 3 boxes for the 10in
To determine the number of servings, use the size and shape of your cake pans and look it up on this chart: http://www.cakecentral.com/article14-Cake-Baking-Cutting--Serving-Guide---2-in-Deep-Pans.html
