I need to make a ton of pearls for a wedding cake, bride wants "taupe". Anybody have advice on which color/product to use? Thanks in advance.

I would make them out of taupe colored fondant and then go over them with luster dust...

Never done taupe but always wanted to know what colors to use. I imagine that it would be a tiny bit of brown and and even smaller amount of black but don't know for sure. I'll keep watching this post for the answer from someone who has made it before.

I have actually seen a color called Taupe before though I can't remember where, however, I just use brown. VERY little at a time though...

To color the pearls, I would try mixing Tan opal luster dust: http://www.paylesscakedecor.com/lusterdust5-tanopal-lg.htm

with Oyster: http://www.paylesscakedecor.com/lusterdust3-oyster-lg.htm

You could also make ivory pearls (white fondant mixed with brown Vanilla flavoring) and roll them in the Oyster, or Pearl Dust. Play with the colors to get the one you like. Good luck!! icon_smile.gif
