I have read through every topic on cc for how to colour fondant black. Some great tips, but it seems everyone uses paste colours. My dilemma is that i only have liquid black food colouring and cant use cocoa( as kids i'm making this for cant eat it)would it be ok to paint black on as i have used heaps, ruined mmf(double batch i may add) with the taste of it.
Please help as i hate being beaten.

Just wondering how you made out? I was thinking you could try and use the liquid but would need to cut back on the amount of milk/water in your icing recipe. Seems you could paint it on if they were small areas.

I've tried coloring fondant after the fact by thinning Wilton gel colors with water. The birds on one of my gallery cakes show what that looked like. It was not an even coloring, but I liked the effect. If you go back over with a second coat, you may get a more even finish. The paint does dry out and doesn't contribute as much to the taste if it is not mixed with the fondant! Good luck!!
