Hello, I'm new here. I'm spanish (sorry for my bad english). I'd like to know if you can eat a cake covered with MMF and painted with luster dust. Pearl dust and luster dust are only decorative or you can eat them without trouble?

Thank you in advance. I'm glad I found this site, I have many problems to find soame basic products as food colours here, in my country and I think I will order some of your products by mail. Tank you again.

Welcome to CC. I think you will find it most useful and enjoyable. Your English seems fine to me.

Anyway, the dusts are not considered edible, but non-toxic. They are meant for decoration only. It's not likely anyone would get enough of the luster dust to be a problem, but if you are concerned, then you can just suggest that customers peel off the fondant.

You probably won't be using that much luster dust anyway because it costs a small fortune. icon_smile.gif

Thank you very much for your information, Michele but now I have another question. Is there any way to get a golden color using another kind of food colouring? I'm planning to bake a cake for a racing club and I want to make a golden cup. Can you help me?

Thank you in advance again.

We are not encouraged to use this on cakes here in Australia, and some of it is very hard to get into the country because of its ingredients , and I have heard that it can be dangerous when inhaled too much , so I would say use sparingly and in a well ventilated room

You can buy edible gold paint, here's one link for you (and this company is fabulous, and yes, they ship to Europe and quickly too!):

http://www.design-a-cake.co.uk/

Just put 'edible gold paint' in the search box on the home page of the site and it'll come up for you. Hope that helps!

I use ECG products for Gold and Silver. You can find them at

http://www.europeancakegallery.us/

They have every color of dusts imaginable and they are all edible, certified by the US Food & Drug and Kosher.
