what torting is? I have seen it all over this board but im not sure what it is.

Seems like its some sort of filling but you have to cut the cake to do it. anyone have any pics to show what it is and how to do it? Is it better than just putting filling in between layers?

thanks

Erin

Torting is cutting a cake in layers so you can put filling between layers.

Instead of just putting filling between the two layers, you cut each layer in to layers, fill then reassemble. You will then have three layers of filling versus one. It overall will give you a slightly taller cake depending on filling than an average to layer cake.

Above is a pic of a slice of torted cake. The cake is 2 layers, each layer torted and filled. Made one for my daughter's baby shower and instead of using the same filling between each torted layer, I used chocolate fudge, red raspberry and white buttercream. It was really pretty and a big hit with the shower guests.

Thanks all. That pic link really helped. That sounds like a really cool way to combine flavors and colors inside the cake.

thanks again
