Fondant On A Square Cake...how Do I?
Decorating By KrisD13 Updated 6 Aug 2006 , 1:18pm by Fascination
I've never done fondant on a square cake, but I have to for a cake next Sunday...and it just happens to be a wedding cake.
Are there any tips or tricks for smoothing it? Do I smooth the sides first, or the corners, or all at once?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou! ![]()

Thanks for the link...this helped me as well. I had so much trouble with my tiffany cake box cake. Now I have a better idea of how to use fondant for my next cake.
Hello KrisD13
The atecousa site has some great demos, but I only found one where they covered an oval cake.
here is a copy of a response I posted recently for another member who asked the same question.
I know some people fear covering a square cake, but with a bit of practice it is no harder than covering a round cake; I do it all the time... I could go into a long description, but it might be easier if you check this site:

The site is just jam packed with recipes, hints and techiques.
Another good reference, with step by step photos is PastryWiz.
full of great hints, tips, and how-to techniques.

Enjoy... I know you will spend hours on those two sites.
ciao
