Don't feel dumb. I had the same question last week. FBCT, frozen buttercream transfer, directions are on this site. It works very well, and, I have done three in the past week. Previously, I was using piping gel that I let set up on paper and used like a type of stamp to make an impression in the cake that I could follow like a coloring book. This works fine, but, can be nerve racking, because, you are doing the artwork right on the cake, and, can't fix mistakes so easily. FBCT is a little more forgiving. The only thing I have found is that FBCT comes out as a smooth picture. If you want a little 3D appeal, go back and add details after the transfer is on the cake. Also, FBCT allows my work schedule to be a little more spaced out, so, I'm not so rushed. I have a full time job and my baking business on the side, so, it is a lifesaver for me. Good luck and enjoy this art form.
