Is there a way of making a whimiscal cake without carving out the centre of the one below like in the turtorial here??

I am completely intimidated by them, but really, really love the way they look!

Pick up a copy of the book "Cakes to Dream On" at the library. It is written by Collette Peters. She has a sketch that shows how to do the topsy turvy without the carving. That's the kind of cake my soon to be 5 year old told me she wants- not asking for much, huh?

Good Luck!!

I will check that one out.... I wish that I could see not just the sketches but the actual pictures of the whole process from A to Z.

Thanks for the suggestion.
