I've been asked to make an armadillo groom's cake for a wedding that 150 people will be attending NEXT WEEK. How big or how many servings do you usually make one?

If it's for a paying customer, I would leave it up to them and charge according to the number of servings.

Otherwise, I think 30-40 is appropriate.

It's definately for a paying customer. Propblem is I really don't know how big the wedding cake will be as I'm not making it. And I don't think the person that is making the wedding cake really knows much about making them or what size to make.

Steele Magnolia's flash back - is the cake going to be red velvet with gray icing? I just love that movie.

If somebody else is making the wedding cake, it's DEFINITELY up to the customer to decide - you don't have ESP and it's not traditional for the groom's cake to be able to serve all the wedding guests. If she asks for a recommendation, I stand by 30-40 servings.

Alimonkey, I couldn't agree more. All weddings that I've been involved in have ordered wedding cake to feed the guests ...... the groom's cake is "extra" cake..... some as small as an 8" square.

Although I've seen on here and on other websites about some places that require the groom's cake to be at least the same size as the bride's cake.

Check with the bride. What does she want to pay for?
