Can anyone reccomend a good-tasting fondant? The marshmallow fondant isn't bad as long as you like marshmallows, but not everyone does. Satin Ice had been suggested, but to me, it tastes a lot like the marshmallow fondant. So...... does anyone have any other suggestions???

To me, satin ice tastes like the glaze on a krispy kreme donut - delicious! (and I don't like MMF) but if you don't like that OR mmf, seems like you might not like any at all. icon_sad.gif

Maybe you should give modeling chocolate or rolled buttercream a shot.

This is only good for some things, but I love Jello Fondant. The recipe is here under SophieBelle's Jello Fondant. You dissolve Jello in water and add corn syrup or glucose and then pour it into powdered sugar, then work in shortening. Or you can melt the shortening and add it to the liquid before. It isn't much harder than MMF and I think it tastes delicious. I used peach and it was wonderful. The problem is it colors the fondant as well as flavors it. Not too big a problem with the light colors, because you can color over it, but with raspberry...well, it would make a good base for red.

You might want to try a regular fondant recipe, like Michelle Foster's or Toba Garrett's or Colette's recipes. You can find plenty of recipes. You can flavor it how you want with various extracts.

I don't buy much fondant, so I can't help you there though

Fondx and Satin Ice gets my vote for better tasting pre-made fondant. They are both marshmallowy tasting though.
