I am going in a couple of hours to set up a very tall wedding cake. I am sooooo afraid it is going to get knocked over! I would jsut die!---especially since I am also one of the photographers and will be there the entire time.

My question is---the reception location is in a ery old building with hardwood floors. if the floors are not level, what will I do? Do I just try to get the cake table level and go from there?

the cake is a 14" and 12" stacked then 7" columns a 10" cake, 7" columns and a 6" cake. The florist (who is the brides mom) will be filling the entire 7" height and space with roses.

Thanks so much for any advice or experience in this area. This is my tallest cake to date.

First of all, relax! The floor would not be so off-level that the cake would slide off..as long as it's not on wheels, ha ha.
Do not adjust the table if it seems slightly off-level. Then you'd really be giving the table a chance to get bumped and rock the cake.
If the Mom is also the florist, then she'll likely have some experience should anything need fixing. Chances are, everything will be absolutely fine.

I guess you are right, it will be much more stable than I think. It's just nothing but the weight of the top two cakes holding themselves on. i know it would take a substantial jolt to the cake table to knock it over, but it still does make me nervous to do one so tall!

I survived without any problems! It all went really well and I am soooo pleased with how it turned out. Presentation is everything! The roses made this cake! I can't believe that I can actually claim this one.
Sorry if I sould like I am bragging, I am just so excited.
I'll try to attach the photos here, if I can't, I'll get them in my gallery.

OH! It's beautiful!!! Great job!
The cake itself is stunning, you wouldn't have needed any roses to make that cake shine!

So glad you had no mishaps! You must be completely relieved that it is over!

That is SO gorgeous it looks like a Wedding magazine photo! The roses are gorgeous (the mom did a wonderful job) but they would have been just roses without your gorgeous cake!

Well Done! thumbs_up.gif
