The cake is called Boots on Duff's website in "funstuff". How in the world do I make this cake. I've been asked to make a cowboy boot and this looks awesome. I just don't know if I could pull it off. Any advice?

just like any stacked tier cake...

just that all the layers are the same size.

same use of internal cake boards and dowels, and central dowel.

oval cakes will make it easier to achieve boot shape quicker.

structure will definitely be the key. on my castle cake I dowelled the heck out of it and was still nervous moving it!

Jen...Thank you so much for posting the link! I can't imagine how he made that boot. Being from Texas, I found humor in the "bacon & beer", and the "armadillo EMT". They are are just too funny!

Thank you Doug! I am making this tonight. I sure hope I can pull it off. I'm just nervous when people pick up their cake. I usually drop it off so I feel in control until it gets to it's final destination. I have this fear that the cake will fall over while they are driving it. Also, how do you cut into a cake like this? Do you start cutting until you get to the board and then pull the board off and cut the next layer?

i'd do 2 dowels all the way through for extra measure

to serve -- yep, just like a wedding cake -- start w/ top most section (tier), cut and serve, remove board, and attack the next section, etc.

looking forward to the pics!
