I'm making a cake for my mother-in-law for her niece's shower this weekend. It will be a double layered 12 inch with a double layered 8 inch on top. Bride requested red velvet cake, but not everyone eats red velvet. My mother-in-law said to make one layer red velvet and the other white. I know cream cheese icing goes with red velvet, but will it taste okay with the white cake? Any suggestions are appreciated.

JMHO, but I think white cake goes well with any frosting. icon_smile.gif

I personally love anything cream cheese....but i would have to say that i think the white cake and cream cheese filling will go great together...and i agree, most any frosting or filling goes well with white cake. icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the replies. I don't eat cream cheese icing, so it's hard for me to know what it goes with! I know, I guess I'm silly for not eating it but I just don't like the taste of it in icing. If I'm eating king cake that has it in it, I will scrape out the center and just eat the rest of the king cake! icon_smile.gif
