I am just wondering how many batches of WASC will it take to make 2 12x2 inch cakes.

Thanks all!

When I made it the one time I got a 6" & 10" so you would need two batches, I think!

I just made 2 12x2" cakes last weekend out of WASC. I made up 2 full batches which made the 12" (square) cakes and 1- 8" round cake.

The WASC cake recipe (using white cake) yields just a tad over 14 cups of batter.

For a 12x2" pans you need 7 1/2 cups of batter for each layer or 15 cups to make a layer cake.

FYI, here are all four Wilton charts with cake preparation info and serving guides:

Here's an expanded flavors version of the WASC cake:

In this recipe you can use liquor or liqueur, white chocolate, cocoa, berry or lemon juices, add strawberries or raspberries to the batter. You can also change the extracts used and use any flavor of cake mix.

Thanks. I use the WASC recipe all the time. I love it. It is such a moist cake. I've made it with chocolate, lemon, strawberry, white, butterpecan cake mixes. Yummy.

I've never made a 12 inch cake so I wasn't sure how much batter I needed. Usually the pans come with a sheet that tells you how much batter, but these didn't. I'm making a wedding cake this week that has a 12 inch tier and a 8 inch tier. So it looks like I will need to make at least 2 batches.

Thanks all for they help.

This chart (off the link provided by Jan) will show you how many cups batter for different size/shape pans: http://www.wilton.com/cake/cakeprep/baking/times/party_2inch.cfm

I ended up using 1 and a half batches...that's three cake mixes. They didn't rise like they usually do so some of my height isn't going to be there, but it will still work.
