I am going to try the cake with a slice of cake on top. Do i have to use dowels? Thanks, Pat

It can't hurt if you do. I think that depends what kind of cake it is that's sitting on top, or whether the buttom cake is too soft or dense enough to hold it . I would put a dowel if it was me. icon_smile.gif

I think with just a piece of cake on top you wouldn't have to dowel. I put a whole cross cake on half a sheet cake with no dowels and nothing sank. Unless you are worried about it sliding off then I might dowel. But if you are using BC, you can probably use the BC icing as "glue".
