Decorating By selahmycat Updated 19 Jun 2007 , 5:01pm by selahmycat
Can someone give me some pointers? I plan on doing one for my daughter's birthday next month. I want to have her sitting on it with her Wii (she is 32!). Any help will be greatly apperciated!! TIA ![]()
Freezing before carving is a must. It makes the cake so much easier to carve.
Roll your fondant on a cutting mat or piece of vinyle to make it easy to transfer to your cake.
Make your fondant 24 hours ahead of time.
Use a sereated knife.
I have not made a couch, but those work for all carved cakes.
I made my couch the same way doug's sketch is ... only thing i have to say is be careful that your figures arent' too heavy lol, mine were and it broke the back of my couch off over night even with 4 dowels in it.
Thank you all!
Doug, thanks for the sketch. What I had planed to do was to start with the long loaf pan and just carve it out of that. Then it would be 1 piece. Do you all think this would be "do-able", or should I stack it as shown in your drawing?
I knew I could count on my CC friends!!
I just need a small one, so I think that is what I will do. I have the long loaf, and it has more than paid for itself!!!
Thanks for all of your input!!
