someone emails you and asks you to be taken off of your frequent customer email flyer list? Do you think it is just because of work ramifications? Or do you think they think I stink and just don't know how to tell me nicely icon_smile.gif

Did they ask you to put them on your list to begin with?

If not then maybe they are like me and no matter who I buy stuff from I just hate getting email that I have to weed through. I wouldn't be offended if that's the case.

Not offended at all. As some of you know, I collect quotes and at one job, I would send out a "Quote of the Day" to some people who I thought would enjoy them. One came over and ask if I would take him off because of the volume of emails he gets and he is trying to control any non-work ones. He was VERY apologetic and concerned about hurting my feelings. It was of course not a problem! I only wanted to share the daily motivator with those who would enjoy it, so I took him off. My intent was NOT to cause him more work (by sorting thru non-work items).

I also added a line of "Please let me know if at any time you wish to be removed from this email distribution."

Not only shouldn't you be offended, there are specific rules you have to follow when sending out commercial email. The most significant of which is Can Spam Act of 2003

"The Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing Act requires unsolicited commercial e-mail messages to be labeled (though not by a standard method) and to include opt-out instructions and the sender's physical address."

and no, it is NOT just for pornographic email, but applies to any unsolicited commercial email.
