I have a recipe that uses gelatin leaves... It says to soften them in cold water but doesn't say how much. At any rate, I use powdered... I have read that 4 leaves = 1 envelope. BUT how much water do I use to soften or dissolve the gelatin before heating??? My glaze on top of my mousse cake came out a bit rubbery....kind of more like knox blocks.... I didn't add a lot of cold water.... It was kind of pasty but dissolved when heated.... Any help is appreciated.

When I use knox gelatin, I use about a quarter cup to dissolve it. I don't know how that would effect your glaze, though. HTH
