I'm really new to cake decorating, and I'm making my first wedding cake for next weekend. It's a three tier carrot cake, using a 6, 8, & 10, the 10 being a dummy layer. The order also includes 200 cupcakes.

My question is which is easier or more popular for wedding cakes: (2) 2" layers or (1) 3" layer?

My vote is for tiers that are about 4" high, so either 2 2" layers or 4 1" layers.

I will second that! 4" tiers are ideal........

Thanks everyone! I guess I should have asked that question before I bought a 3" set of rounds! icon_cry.gif

I use 3" pans to bake my 2" layers as I do not like getting a "lip" on my cakes icon_smile.gif
