I was thinking about making a batch and dividing it in 4 while I was making it in the KA-

I was thinking I could add 1/4 of the melted marshmellows and PS and mix and start again with the next color?

Would this work?

Any pointers or tips to make this easier?

Thanks so much-

I am pretty sure it can be divided and color added that way.

You should be able to do this with no problem. Just be sure to add your color with the melted marshmallows.

I have tried this now...it is a little extra work

Can anyone suggest a better way if you need 4-5 different MMF colors?

Did you make 4 smaller batches? That's the only way I can think to color it while you are making it.. there's always the old faithful kneading the color in method. It's not that bad to do. If I need small amounts of color I just knead it in after I make it.

I melt my marshmallows in one large batch, then divide up into the different amounts I think I'll need for the fondant. I color the marshmallow mix, then it all takes turns in the mixer, adding sugar until it looks right. icon_razz.gif

Sorry I don't have a more scientific approach, but that's the best I've been able to do. I'm watching this thread for more hints! icon_smile.gif

I just kneaded in my colors. I made one large batch then divided it and now have white, red, orange, green, blue, and yellow....If you cant tell i have a rainbow cake coming up...LOL

Hijacking for a minute though...

Can you make the decorations from the MMF that go onto the wires? without adding anything else? and if so how long does it take to dry??? The cakes for Saturday. Also how well doe the MMF hold up outside?

What kind of decorations? If they're cut-outs like stars or hearts you may need to add some gum-tex or 50/50 fondant/gumpaste to get them to dry enough for cutouts. If you're just doing balls on the ends of the wires, the MMF should be fine by itself. The MMf should be fine outside.
