O.K. I need some ideas! I need to make a cake for this Sunday for a picnic. The picnic is the annual picnic for prison gaurds and their families. I need to make a decent size cake, and it will be outside all day! It is at least 90 degrees here, so keep that in mind. I am drawing a total blank on this one. I need something "impressive" as I am hoping to obtain other orders from this one. Any ideas? I wanted to make something having to do with police, prisoners, etc. I was thinking I could do something with the black and white stripes of a prisoner uniform? Any ideas????

What about making a cake in the shape of their badge? It could be placed on top of a sheet cake to get enough servings you need.

You could place the shield that sweetbaker suggested on a striped sheet cake or stripe the sides of the cake to incoporate the prison uniforms into it.

Cute cake, Sharon! You might try something like this : Fondant brick wall (low standing is okay), on one side of the wall make it green, like green pastures, on the other side of the wall make it graveley with a hole close to the wall and a pile of said gravel on the side of the hole and two feet coming out of the hole and you can caption it with something regarding escaping.

how about same prison wall, 'outside' on one side, 'inside' on the other, complete with barbed wire on top (no clue how you'd make that lmao, well ok with RI or choco) and then some fondant prisoners (complete with stripes) crawling up the wall, and some on the inside also. On the outside a couple of guards patrolling back and forth along the wall?

or sheetcake, laying down (aerial) view, whole cake is covered in 3D prison bars. and then also fondant a guard (or a prisoner) clutching the bars (see picture here for what I mean http://www.autre.net/graines/r771.html ) with some kind of saying like 'let me out of here'

Oh and if you're doing a yahoo image search for 'prison' or 'prisoners', and you have kids around, make sure they're not watching icon_wink.gif (lots of graphic prison jokes and images)

Is that kind of like how custodians don't like everybody calling them janitors?

Law Enforcement/Police Officers/State Police or State Troopers, not "cops"

Corrections Officers not "(prison) guards"

Cake decorator not boxed mix maker

Cake decorator not Colette (or other professional name) wannabe

It's more respectful.
