I was just at the hairdresser and mentioned to one of the stylist that I do cakes. She has asked me to come up with some ideas for her. She wants a "renassaince" type reception. A lot of gold, purples & maroons. I'm so nervous. The cake she wants is beautiful - not like anything that I've ever done. I don't have a scanner at home or I would scan it and show it. It has fondant but she is wanting buttercream with fondant gold trim. Would this work? Or would the buttercream melt the fondant? I'll try and post a pic tomorrow when I'm at work.

Congratulations!! For your first wedding cake order.

I had used buttercream with fondant details and it worked. The buttercream won't melt the fondant. I will wait until you post the pictures to see what the customer wants to give you a better opinion. OK? thumbs_up.gif

Sounds beautiful...

Most of the stuff I do is buttercream with something fondant somewhere in the design. THe two work very well together.

Congratulations on your first wedding cake- You'll do GREAT!!
