This is the last week of school, so I had to hurry up and motivate myself to get these cookies made. I baked them on saturday and frosted them tonight...well, now it is last night, LOL....anyways. I finished them up and hope that they dry by tomorrow so that I can take them in. The bugs are for the bus drivers, the precious moments for my son's kindergarten teacher, and the horton is for my daughter's teacher. I thought I would post them here, since pictures tend to get lost in the shuffle with all of the uploads.
Wow! The detail in those cookies is amazing. I really like the Horton. Did you free-hand the designs, or use some sort of transfer technique?
How big are the cookies? If your cooling racks are similar to mine, they are pretty large.
All I can say is Wow again. They're beautiful.
They're all great!! There is so much detail in them, well done!
Thank you everyone. I just eyeballed the picture and then put it on the cookie in royal, so it is freehand. They are big cookies. the really big ones are about 8x10 the smaller ones are 6 to 7 inches tall. They barely fit in the goody bag. Cookies are so much fun!
So I gave the bug cookies to the bus drivers and I may as well have handed them a prepackaged bag of oreos or something. I mean, I don't expect that people will fawn all over me with thank you's, or how amazing they are, but it would be nice if they showed some glimpse of appreciation for all the hard work that went into them. I love to make cookies, but it is so frustrating when people just look at them as if they are your every day ordinary cookie. Ya know? Maybe things will go differently tomorrow when I take in the teachers cookies. Then again, maybe it is God's way of keeping me humble LOL.
I absolutely LOVE your cookies!! I can't believe the detail in them. How long did it take you to decorate each of them?
Thank you for your support. I needed it! I didn't time myself, but I started working on them around 7:30 at night and finished them around.....hmmmm 11:30/12 ish? I think???? That time includes all of the color mixing as well, since I do that as I go. If I pre-mixed all the colors, the bugs would probably had taken me 10 to 15 minutes each to do just the icing. The big ones were more time consuming, well the little boy was. Horton was very quickly done. I am learning as I go, so I get a little quicker with each one. I have learned to only outline the big shape of each color and then fill in the details after I have filled it. So Horton was super quick and the bushes were too.
Great job!! Yah- I find that sometimes people don't realize that YOU, YOURSELF made the cookies- maybe they think you bought them or something- I usually say "I MADE you a little something special!" To be sure they get it! ![]()
