I have decided to make a sheet cake and put 2 small dice on it. I am going to make a extra cake and cut it to make the dice. Here is my problem...Do I totally complete the dice (icing & decorating) before I put them on the cake or do I decorate them after I put them on the cake?? Do I need to do anything special to get them to stick on top of the cake? Somebody told me to put straws through the dice but I do not know if I was suppose to put them through the actual sheet cake to hold it on the cake. TIA!!!!

Depends on how big your dice are... if your dice are of any size that makes them a bit heavy I would put a cake board under each die (cut the same size) and dowel underneath -- you don't want your dice falling into your lower cake...if they are small and not too heavy I would not do a cakeboard but would put a straw or dowel in the bottom of the die that gets stuck into the cake below to keep it in place...

as for frosting before -- I would frost them separetly and then place -- easier to repair them after they are on than to frost them completely while on...

Good luck!
