I put Crisco on my table and sprinkle it with powdered sugar when working with Wilton's fondant. It never sticks to the table. Now I'm going to try making MMF. Can I still use Crisco to prevent the MMF from sticking to the table? It's humid here in NC. Should I adapt the MMF recipe? Thanks.
Yes, alway put a good coating of shortening down before you put it on the table. Also coat the bowl you will be melting the marshmallow in, I found that out the hard way, lol.
You might need to knead in more powdered sugar when making the MMF, I never use all 2lbs, but you just add a little at a time untill the consistancy feels right. I use Crisco when working with MMF without any problems. I find that dusting the surface with PS makes the MMF too dry, personally.
I agree with all of the above... besides you hands are nice and soft afterwards too ![]()
definately use the crisco because my 1st time i used cornstarch and after a few minutes my mmf got really dry and crumbly. next time i'm not even putting cornstarch next to my mmf. let us know how it goes.

I'm glad you mentioned that dusting the surface makes MMF dry. I was wondering why my MMF was crumbling and drying out so quickly. My fondant was always sticking to the surface no even when I put powdered sugar on it. I will make sure I use crisco going forward.
I tried the CRISCO with the MMF and what happened to me is that my MMF got really really greasy, shiny and sweaty from this.... what am I doing wrong? I don't think I'm using too much... or maybe I am? It is also very humid here, my AC is always running, might this be a fact? Any thoughts? Thanks
