This weekend, I had three cakes to make. I got them all done, well, mostly... anyhow, I was fighting with the tiny bit of counter space I have in my kitchen, trying to get everything finished. No room for cooling cakes, no room for setting one tier aside while I worked on another... it was madness on Friday while I was scrambling to get stuff ready to pack up and head out of town for the bridal shower! Before I left, my sweetie lamented that I didn't have more room to spread out and get stuff done, without getting as frustrated. I didn't think much about it, as I was already frazzled and nervous about my first non-friends/family cake debut.
(The shower was for a friend, but other than her and the two friends I went with, everyone else was a perfect stranger. eeep!)
Anyhow... the cakes got delivered and set up, the shower went great, and the father's day cake devoured. The friends I'd traveled with brought me home, and when we got here... lo and behold, my MIL and my sweetie had been VERY busy! Deciding to help me out, they'd rearranged the cabinet where I've been shoving all my cake decorating stuff, pans, etc. They also re-arranged the kitchen counters so that I have the largest amount of space clear to work in!!! I was so touched!!! That they'd inconvenience themselves, just so I'd have a place to work, is awesome. ![]()
Sometimes, our families can be so very supportive and thoughtful! It was such a wonderful end to an already wonderful weekend. ![]()
Anyhow, just wanted to share their awesomeness with others who might appreciate it! ![]()
you gave me goosebumps, that was so sweet!
You're a lucky girl
What a great surprise to come home to! That was so nice of them ![]()
Wow, How nice!!!! I'm just thrilled when someone else unloads the dishwasher!! That was really cool that they spent the time doing something that will help you out. For X-mas or my birthday, I've asked my family to help me with projects around the house that need to get done instead of something they would have to go out and buy. So far, I haven't had any takers!
That is great!! I have to argue with you though....my MIL is the best! LOL!! My MIL and hubby went in together (along with SIL) and bought me my KA mixer. She is also one of my biggest advertisers and supportors.
Thank God for great families!
That is so nice
Isnt it nice to have a great MIL? I have an awesome too.
You all are so lucky!!! My MIL was great too......unfortunately, we lost her about 18 months ago. I was lucky enough though to have a wonderful MIL for a short time......just over 4 years. Luckily, she was also my best friend's (my SIL) mother so I've known her and called her my second mother since I was in the 5th grade. All in all....I knew her for 36 years. (I was lucky enough to marry my best friend's brother......about 31 years after I met him). Funny how life turns out.
This is great news. I love hearing good things happening to others.
I'm very blessed, in that my MIL and I are also good friends. She's lived with us for the past 4 years, while she's going back to college, and she contributes to the household more than I do, I think.
I go away for the weekend, I come back and my house is spotless. I might not know where anything is, but it's clean! LOL
But she's a sweet lady, and is always willing to help out. I love her dearly, and will miss her when she decides to move out.

That's great too, to have known her for so long! I have one of those funny how life turns out stories with my hubby as well. Sometimes you have to come full circle to realize what was there all along!
(Irish- nice to see someone from the Butler area. I have an uncle in Chicora).
