I did a cake with the 1/2 butter 1/2 criso icing, with a marshmallow fondant on top.
I did it yesterday morning.
It was in the fridge all day yesterday (except for 3 hours to decorate it)
I want to bring the cake at my husband office..
How long can it stay on a counter today while people serves themselves??
TIA
Well, you didn't say what kind of filling might be in the cake. The icings you used have no properties that need to be refrigerated.
If it's just cake with no filling, it can last for days!
People always think that butter needs to be refrigerated. Ultimately, it doesn't.
There is a period of time after which it WILL become rancid--but that's usually after it's been left out for about 8 days.
The main reason butter is refrigerated AT ALL is to keep the shape and to keep it from "puddling."
I used to stay with my grandmother in the summer, and she left her's out in a butter dish all the time. ![]()
Sugar is a natural preservative, also. It coats the fats used in the buttercream, and again--acts as a preservative. ![]()
