I tried the mini stand up bear for the first time. I used pound cake and it came out fine. The problem is the decorating Am I an idiot?

I couldn't figure out when to do the eyes, nose and mouth - first, last?
What about the fur and the icing consistency? My poor bear ended up looking like a pathetic 70's shag rug. How long should it be?

How do I do the forms of the legs, arms, nose to stand out? There's no definition.

Final question - is the larger size bear easier than the mini? I hope there's some answer to why it looks the way it looks! icon_cry.gif

Thanks everyone!

Try using a smaller star tip, do the eyes and stuff first.

Whoops, I forgot to mention that I was using the grass tip for the fur - what should be the consistency for that?

I always do the eyes, ears, etc. first just so I don't lose place of where they should be. I normally use medium consistency buttercream for using the hair tip, but start at the bottom and work your way up to keep the fur from wanting to droop. I have a couple of examples in my pics:

ribbitfroggie,

Your cakes are beautiful - but your hand must be killing you!

Thanks for the help, that's what I needed to know.
