We have just returned from our first cheering practice of the season and I'm already trying to visualize the end of the season cake,
complete with pom poms and megaphones. I've searched the galleries and nothing came up.
Do any of you creative decorators have any ideas to share or websites that you could point me to? I'm fairly new to decorating but I have time to practice.![]()
Thanks!
grr... My computer is having problems and i can't search google for a picture to show you... So hopefully this description will help.
I know not all cheerleaders use megaphones, but it is a classic cheerleader item. So if you stand the megaphone on the larger part (so it is like a cone shape) Then you could covere in fondant or buttercream and put the school mascott or name going down the side. With this design I would stack different size rounds (check out the flower pot directions in the articles section) and then carve it.
If you wanted to you could also use the Sports ball pan and use each half as one Pom Pom. Use either the grass tip or a star tip to decorate it.
Hopefully before you do the cake I can get some pictures to explain what I mean.

Well first thing comes to mind, is the cake I Did (of course I'm just giving you the idea, you'll do a way better job on yours LOL) - it was totally last minute request for my nephew's g/f's birthday along with my own bday and my twin's bday- and I had already designed 'our' cake so I didnt want to combine, so I threw together a cheerleader cake for her because she's on the squad. As horrible as it looked (although she liked it lol), I had fun and am inspired to practice and make better for my next one lol, anyway I used upside down cupcakes for the pompoms
I also have another idea maybe if you can either do a sheetcake with a gym floor look, and make a bunch of fondant or gumpaste girls either standing in a couple of rows in various poses, splits etc, or have them in formation (like stacked on top of each other?)
You could also use the sports ball pan to make to pom poms. Use the grass tip to pipe the strings.
I have done a couple of cheerleading cakes since my daughter also does competitive cheer. Both were 3 tier cakes. I did one the colors of her team and also mixed in some footballs. The other one was for a birthday party...you can look in my photos.
If you are wanting to do a sheet cake...you could always do a megaphone cut out with fondant and some really cute grass tip pom-poms. I think you could use cupcakes and cover them with the grass tip for the right shape.
I am sure whatever you do...the girls will love it! ![]()
Hey that's a cute one,.
That just gave me the idea - whatever the team's name is:
Give me a X, give me an X, give me an X, give me an X
What does it spell?
CONGRATS or END OF SEASON or something and then a FBCT or piped cheerleader with pompoms on the bottom going RAH
Grab a catch phrase out of one of their popular cheers and incorporate that into the cake. I have done three cheerleader cakes, but they are very old. I am trying to link you up to them. If this link brings you to a cheerleader cake for Krista, then look at that one and hit the next button twice for the other two cheerleader cakes. If the link brings you to my whole sports album, then you'll have to scroll down until you see three cakes in a row of cheerleaders.
