I make my bc with milk and leave cakes out...they are fine. The sugar in the bc acts as a preservative.

Ok that is kinda what I was thinking but it is for a wedding and I would hate for anybody to get sick. Do you use real butter in your frosting?
The cake part will be ok with butter and milk because it is cooked right?

You can leave bc made with milk out at room temp for several days and its fine. Like someone above said, the milk is mixed in with so much sugar it won't go bad.
