Hello everybody!

I need your help in giving me some ideas to do " Over the hedge" cake for a 5 yr old boy.

I'm planning to do a 12" round cake for 50 people and I would prefer not to do the cake with the cake topper.

My current idea is to do an FBCT. Planning to make the cake into a lawn turning the round edges into a hedge and inside have an FBCT of the characters.

What do you guys think?
Please share if you have something more interesting and innovative.

Has anyone attempted the FBCT of characters? Do I need any special instructions?

Sorry lot's of question but need your advice urgently!

Thanks you so much in advance.

or...

verne with RJ and Hammy riding on his back?

verne would be 3-d cake...RJ and Hammy would be fondant figures!

hammy of course would be standing on his head.
RJ would be drinking a slurpy

well, if good at make little clay models-- the could treat fondant like play dough and have at it.

edible image is also an option....

and do they make toy characters? then RJ and Hammy could just be little toys.

search results for turtle: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&meta=search&type=full&search=turtle

several pages of ideas, many w/ instructions.

most of the 3-D based on some type of half ball pan (tho' vern is more football shaped!)

what if you make your sheet cake and then you make like a hedge in the center that stands up off of the cake... out of strips of cake cut up and decorated with green leaves in icing. Then you could put some little houses and a road.. like the suburb on one side of the hedge and the characters on the other side... just LOOKING at the hedge.. "steve" steve the hedge... that part cracked me UP....
