I am making a birthday cake for one of my co-workers and she wants a round cake with a thick ribbon on bottom and a thinner ribbon "accent" as she put it, around the top of the cake. I have never seen a cake with a top ribbon as well as a bottom ribbon, and I was wondering if any of you had seen any pictures like this. Also, does there have to be a top border then to cover up the edge of the ribbon? Sorry I am new at this. Thanks in advance!

I've seen cakes with a thicker ribbon around the base and a thin ribbon around the top rim, but I don't have a pic, sorry. As far as the border question goes, no, you don't have to have a top border if you don't want one. Just make sure you but the ends of the ribbon together nicely on the back of the cake or place a bow or other accessory over it.
