My dad wanted me to make him a special cake for fathers day-I decided to try a fish cake-a rock bass specifically. I think if you take off you glasses and squint one eye it looks like a fish!

Actually, I'm kinda proud of myself with it. It was my first carved cake and my first time working with fondant. My colors are off but I just need more pratice there.

i agree i think it's a good job, this doesn't look like an easy cake, be proud of it. You know we are always the most critical of our work.

I don't know how a rock bass looks but it looks like a great fish of any kind. I like how you have it on the cutting board...added realism. You did a great job!

the cutting of the cake wasen't as bad as I thought. I used the Nicole method-I unwrapped it to the last plastic wrap (per instructions on here) and then used a magic marker to draw an outline on the wrap. My serrated knife went right through the cake and wrap with no problems!

clever idea having the fish on a carving board, it looks ready to be cleaned.

I think it turned out great! I'm too chicken to even think about carving cakes or making a 3D cake! WTG!!
