Morning....I am trying to expand my inventory of cake stands and wondered if anyone had any personal favorites for wedding cakes. Haven't taken the plunge yet to spend the $$$$ on a plateau, but have a few other. In particular, I am looking for some decent stands for tiered cakes (Plates and Pillars) Any ideas?

ps: Does anyone know what kind of stand this might be? Does it have a middle coloumn or would it just be some sort of riser (like a block of wood)

I have seen these seporater kinda things at AC Moore and you can cover them with fabric...They are a Wilton product, I think icon_rolleyes.gif

I have a set like these from Wilton and I really am not happy with them. The plates are warped and you can not get the styrofoam wedges to sit flat, and they are just too insecure. I used them once and the cake slid. I can not say it was all Wiltons fault, it was 117 degrees that day, everythng was sliding. But I would rather pay more for a set that is better made.

I especially like the stands made by His Designs.

On some cakes, the stands made out of fabric covered styrofoam look great, like the ones on www.earlenescakes.com. They are very easy to do if you know how to use a sewing machine.
